Friday evening, December 9, 2005, was indeed a special Shabbat for Temple Israel. We celebrated our members who are 90 and above. Four became 90 within the past 6 months, our one gentleman is 92 and the other member is 97!

We acknowledged their contributions to our Temple, the personal and religious qualities that we all strive for. These leaders have shown us how to live our lives to the fullest, cherish each moment and proudly represent our Jewish faith.

Each of the 6 honorees helped with the Torah service and were blessed by Rabbi Bar-Yaacov under a hand-held tallit!

It was a wonderful evening with many community friends in attendance, in addition to the Rabbi and special friends from Bnai Jacob, our other synagogue in Charleston. Naturally, the evening ended with a very special Oneg Shabbat.
